Difficulty breathing, choking, or gasping
Collapse, loss of consciousness, or inability to stand
Suspected poisoning or swallowing a foreign object
Severe bleeding that does not stop within a few minutes

Trauma — hit by a vehicle, fall from height, or animal attack
Extreme lethargy, pale or white gums
Inability to urinate (especially in cats — this is a life-threatening emergency)
Vomiting or diarrhoea with blood, or more than three times in an hour

Swollen, hard, or visibly painful abdomen
Suspected broken bone or severe lameness
